Born and raised in Ray Township, Michigan. My athletic background started when I was the age of 12, and began playing competitive ice hockey. I continued playing hockey to the level of junior B. During that time I attended numerous hockey camps/power skating clinics including one at Michigan State University and in Toronto, Ontario. Upon graduation of high school I attended the fire academy through a local community college and began to work on my career choice. In August of 2008, I relocated to North Myrtle Beach, where I began my career as a professional Firefighter/Emt. I was introduced to CrossFit in 2009 by my lieutenant while at the firehouse. My first WOD was Barbara. I was soon hooked! CrossFit became a daily task that we incorporated into our days at the firehouse. In July of 2012, I went and took my CrossFit level 1 trainers course at CrossFit Wilmington. The CrossFit community far exceeds that of any gym or Fitness program out there. No where else will you find such camaraderie and support as you try to finish your last few reps! I am dedicated in maximizing and improving your quality of life, through constantly varied, functional movements, performed at high intensity. CrossFit.

I received my personal training certification and enjoyed working with clients and teaching group fitness classes. I was burnt out on doing the same workouts and wanted to try something new. When I started CrossFit I was intimidated but was soon hooked.I encourage everyone to try it and let the results speak for themselves. After serving in the US Army, I settled back in Massachusetts raising my sons and having the pleasure of coaching them for many years in several sports.  My own fitness involved running, softball, racquetball and basketball.  Although I stayed active, I was on pills for blood pressure, cholesterol, and ulcers – even while running 60 miles a week.  After surgery on both knees, I gave up running.  I Tried the Globo Gym and became bored with the routine and lack of results; after a CrossFit intro class, I decided to try it out for three months.  Within 90 days (and hard fought approval from my MD), I was off medication, knees were pain free, I dropped weight, and was getting the best sleep of my adult life.   With my experience with CrossFit, and the joy of coaching, I knew I had to share it with others.  I believe CrossFit isn’t only about putting weight over your head, doing burpees, or getting your next PR, it’s also about healthy survival, about being fully functional, and, being in control of your own fitness.

“Never settle for basic”

Sports have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember and because of that, I have been afforded opportunities that have changed my world….and I just want to pay it forward!

I was raised by a mother who is not only an athlete but has been in the fitness industry since 1981. It is because of her I educate and train so that I can set the same kind of example for my daughters that she set for me.  Thanks to her, I was a high school and college scholarship athlete who received a number of honors while playing on both levels.  After I graduated, I ended up in the mountains of North Carolina where I worked, coached and played for 15 years. While Coaching at CrossFit Pisgah in Asheville NC, I worked with, competed with, and learned from athletes ranging from the day one beginner to the CrossFit Games competitor.  I have also been serving as a PT instructor for the Basic Law Enforcement Training Program, through North Carolina Sheriff’s Training and Standards, since 2002 and continue to hold that specialized certification. My goal is to empower every athlete/ cadet that I work with and teach them to push past the boundaries that they mentally set for themselves to become stronger than they were yesterday.
